Having heard that the Halve van Het Gooi was such a nice run, I didn't hesitate when I saw that one of our colleagues was not able to run due to a foot injury and offered his ticket. I was a bit worried as I hadn't trained since the Dam-tot-Damloop, but I erased all ambitions and I would just see where my ship would run aground as the Dutch say. So, on Sunday morning I came to the fortress of Naarden for my race entry and the conditions were perfect: No rain, no wind, a friendly atmosphere and an agile organisation. The running course is pittoresque, with the fortification walls, the Gooimeer, the Naardermeer and the finish in historical Naarden. I also ran a new PR, in the negative sense though, which is not surprising if you get older and participate in a run untrained. More importantly, I had a great morning.
